The uninsured rate in the U.S. remained around 8% in 2025, stable but with about 800,000 more uninsured due to population growth. Changes to Medicaid and the expiration of Affordable Care Act subsidies may increase the uninsured by millions in coming years. The uninsured rate fell after the ACA but rose during the early Trump administration, then dropped to a record low below 9% in 2023 due to pandemic-related policies.
